Fort Aguada by Taj - Hotel Review

Well, Yes. You got to give it to Taj Aguada for being really warm and hospitable. We had been to this place in the month of July (considered an off-season) when monsoon is at its peak in Goa. Most of the beaches have red flags fluttering on them indicating choppy waters and a strict no-no to tourists to wander nearby. Since it was raining most of the time, we stayed put in sea-facing hotel room watching rain drops falling from above. Our holidays are normally packed with activities but this was something unusual for us as we spent 6 days not doing much (except reading novels) without getting bored. Thanks to ambience of the hotel and the greenery surrounding it. They definitely were more than enchanting.

                                                  The Reception area

Situated about 90 minutes away from the airport, the location of the hotel is ideal. They offer a pick up and drop facility from the airport as well. Our bookings were done through a travel agent who goofed up while making the arrangements. This was conveyed to us by the hotel staff at the reservation desk when we checked in. But at the same time, they asked us to stay calm and enjoy the stay. They knew we were travelling from Mumbai and ushered us to the restaurant immediately for lunch but made it a point to sort things out with the agent.

The hotel has a sea facing pool side which is an attraction for most guests. In addition they also have other entertainment activities by the pool side. You can indulge in Zorbing or can play Table Tennis, Pool or Tennis. The food is amazing with a lot of options for both vegetarians, non-vegetarians and foreigners alike at the multi cuisine restaurant named Latitude and for sure can tickle anyone’s avaricious instincts. On most occasions, the staff at the restaurant were constantly on their toes to make us comfortable. The authorities consider music an integral part of Taj heritage and therefore some really good artists play soothing music in the evenings at dinner time.

The staff was unfailingly polite and our every encounter with them left us wondering if smile ever left their faces. They were always willing to help. There were a lot of couples like us staying in the hotel and they ensured adequate privacy.

This was my first time with Taj and I am sure it won’t certainly be the last time.
